Media Lab Events
The MIT Media Lab is a world-renown research laboratory of academic excellence combining technology, multimedia, sciences, art and design. As such, the Lab hosts events and conferences to share compelling ideas with the public in an effort to create a better future.
Situation: Defiance explores the impact of dissent and the nonviolent resistance for the benefit of a productive and healthy society. While Scratch — a global community for kids who code their own interactive stories, games and animations — exposes creativity and collaboration, and provides learning for important math and computational skills.
Results: Visual branding for both events spoke to the theme and audience. Defiance was bold, Scratch was friendly; both were eye-catching. Added bonus: attendance was higher than previous years given the impressive speakers and community-focused endeavor to make the world a better place.
My role: Design (in collaboration with Media Lab staff)
Digital and print event collateral used stark colors and images of well-known people associated with non-violent acts that changed the world.
Event collateral combined explosions of color, large graphics and artwork from the Scratch community to convey a love of learning.
