Massachusetts College of Art and Design
Massachusetts College of Art and Design (MassArt) in Boston is one of the nation’s oldest art schools and the only publicly funded, independent art school in the United States.
Situation: Every year, MassArt produces a Viewbook for prospective students to elicit interest and increase enrollment for undergraduate and graduate programs in visual and applied art.
Results: Shown below are Viewbooks from two different years. In both instances the format, tactile paper, print techniques, textures, patterns, art markings and imagery converge to give the viewer a sense of what life is like at MassArt.
Added bonus: both versions were recognized on an international design blog which “celebrates the reality that print is not dead by showcasing the most compelling printed projects.” Additionally, the 2-in-1 book format (right side up and upside down) was loved by the in-house marketing team, so much so that they repeated it two years in a row.
